Performance Limits of Turbo Equalization Using M-BCJR Algorithm

چکیده
We study the performance limits of turbo equalization when the M -BCJR algorithm is used as the soft-in soft-out equalizer. We show through analysis based on EXIT charts that the M -BCJR equalizer can provide performance very close to that of the BCJR equalizer with considerably reduced complexity. We show that the current practice of using the output of the equalizer directly as a posteriori probabilities is suboptimal and we show how to use the M -BCJR equalizer in a better fashion in an it-

Turbo Equalization of the Faster-Than-Nyquist Signaling Using the Reduced-Complexity Z-MAP Algorithm
In this paper, the performance of the Z-MAP algorithmis explored in the context of the turbo equalization of thefaster-than-Nyquist (FTN) signals. The complexity of the Z-MAP,in terms of the number of the surviving states at each time epoch,is studied. Finally, the performance of the Z-MAP is comparedto that of the backup M-BCJR for turbo equalizing the FTNsignals.
متن کاملA Novel Reduced Complexity Forward-Backward Equalization Algorithm
The complexity of channel equalization using the BCJR algorithm grows exponentially with the channel memory and signal cardinality. In this paper we present a novel reduced complexity equalization algorithm where independent forward and backward trellises are formed based on decision feedback sequence estimation (DFSE) idea. Performance of the new equalizer algorithm is evaluated for turbo equa...
متن کاملTurbo Equalization for Channels with High Memory Using a List-Sequential (LISS) Equalizer
For multipath channels with a high number of taps and signal constellation points the APP (BCJR) soft-in/soft-out detector in a turboscheme has a prohibitively high number of states. We replace it by a novel list-sequential stack (LISS) algorithm using augmented paths and an auxiliary stack for a length dependent bias term. For BERs lower than 10 the turbo system with a LISS equalizer has almos...
متن کاملPerformance of Blind Turbo Equalizer in Indoor Channels
In this paper, we consider the transmission of turbo coded symbols in the indoor radio environment. The system is affected by the intersymbol interference (ISI) caused by the multipath time-delay spread of the transmission medium. To reduce the channel effect, we propose to use a blind turbo equalizer combining channel estimation, equalization and turbo decoding. The equalizer consists of an in...
متن کاملSingle Antenna Cochannel Interference Cancellation in Single Carrier Transmission Systems by Improved Prefiltering and Turbo Equalization
In this paper, a joint (multiuser) turbo equalizer performing single antenna interference cancellation (SAIC) for complex–valued modulation schemes is proposed. In order to improve the performance of a reduced–complexity equalizer for intersymbol interference (ISI) channels in different interference situations (overloaded system), an appropriate prefiltering approach is considered first. Oversa...
